A body was found in canal in Brussels on Monday, as first reported by Bruzz, and later confirmed by the Brussels Capital-Ixelles police zone.

The body was recovered from a canal along the Quai Léon Monnoyer in Brussels on Monday morning.

The Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the case.

The body was identified as a 29-year-old man, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's office later confirmed.

Sudinfo identified him as a man from Schaerbeek who had been missing since December 17. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident is still ongoing.
