The second edition of the house and techno music festival Garnizoen, held on Easter Sunday, was even more successful than last year’s.

The 3,500 tickets were sold like hot cakes for the festival organized in the Citadel of Diest, Vlaams-Brabant (Flemish Brabant).

Garnizoen is held in honour of the first (1970s) American "Warehouses" — famous clubs in Chicago and Detroit in which house music was born in reaction to what was at that time popular “commercial” music. It is one of the 200 events organized by Pukkelpop. (Pukkelpop began in 1985 as a small, local music event before becoming an outdoor “alternative” music festival, one of the world’s most popular.)

Belgian and international DJ's took turns yesterday on the festival’s three podiums. On the "Loods" stage, fans were seduced by Amelie Lens, Rødhåd, Linear Straight LIVE, Cellini, Klaps and Beanz. David Vunk, San Soda (and his three-hour set). Bjeor B2B Innershades, Pandes et Bearsøme performed on the "Flanck" stage, and funk was king on the "Vizier".

"After last year’s success, the citadel of Diest welcomed us once more," the enthused organizer Chokri Mahassine said. "But with an increased capacity of 2,000 to 3,500 participants."
