The Code Yellow fire-risk warning is in effect once more across all five provinces in Flanders, the Flemish Agency for Nature and Forests, ANB (Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos) announced on Tuesday.
This means Limburg and Antwerp have moved from red to yellow alert.
Flemish Brabant, East Flanders, and West Flanders had been on orange alert.
The reduction in alert level is attributed to recent rainfall. Nevertheless, the yellow code indicates that fire danger persists in natural areas due to ongoing dryness, requiring continuous vigilance. Only a green code signifies no specific risk.
The surveillance towers are manned based on risk assessments by managers and fire services, according to the agency.
The warning applies to all forested and natural areas managed by the ANB. Areas owned by other public authorities or private owners face the same level of risk, and their managers are urged to remain cautious.
Smoking or lighting fires in the open air remains prohibited, except for authorised campfires.
