The Brussels Socialist Party (PS) aims to achieve a balanced budget within ten years and hopes to establish a government by 21 July, more than a year after the regional elections, according to reports in L'Echo and Le Soir on Friday. This outlook is detailed in a memo intended to guide discussions among left-wing parties.

This week, the PS initiated efforts to form a left-wing majority in the Brussels Region with parties including the radical left PTB-PVDA, greens Ecolo and Groen, Team Fouad Ahidar, and Flemish socialists Vooruit, excluding the Francophone liberals MR.

On Tuesday, these potential coalition partners received a memo outlining programmatic convergences. Key proposals include an "ambitious employment policy" focusing on support and training capabilities, urban renewal ensuring accessible quality housing at affordable prices in peaceful neighbourhoods, and continued implementation of the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) on a revised schedule.

Another point calls for a significant reform of political institutions in the Region, reaffirming bilingualism and representation of linguistic minorities.

Meanwhile, the MR revealed an 80-page programme this week aiming to attract potential partners for forming a regional executive, with a goal to achieve budget balance in seven years.
