Brussels firefighters responded to a call late on Friday night about approximately 20 vehicles on fire in a bodywork shop's car park near Decathlon in Evere.
"We immediately despatched an assistance column with two fire trucks and two ladders; four fire hoses were employed during the intervention," relayed Brussels fire brigade spokesperson, Walter Derieuw. "As there are residences nearby, we took precautions. There were no injuries."
An investigation into the fire's cause has been launched by the police. The laboratory of the Brussels North police zone (Evere-Schaerbeek-Saint Josse-ten-Noode) remains on site at the car park on Laurent Vandenhoven Street.
"At present, we have no additional information regarding the cause of the fire. Laboratory analysis is still yet to be conducted," explained zone spokesperson, Audrey Dereymaeker.
