A lifeless body was discovered in the gardens of an events hall in the northern part of Brussels on Friday afternoon.
The body was found floating in the pond of the gardens of Botanique, located in the westernmost end of the park, near the metro station Rogier.
The gardens were closed down to the public as police and emergency services intervened.
A security perimeter was installed in the park and a forensic doctor called to examine the scene, Walter Deriuew, spokesperson for the Brussels fire department said in a statement.
With a judicial investigation launched, no information regarding the circumstances of the finding were disclosed, spokesperson Audrey Dereymaecker of the Brussels-North police zone said.
