The attack took place on Boulevard Anspach, near Bourse in the city centre. "Our officers were called at around 18:00 and several teams were immediately dispatched to the scene," Van de keere confirmed.
Officers quickly attended to the injured individual, providing first aid until medical assistance arrived. The victim was subsequently transported to hospital where they remain in a critical condition.
"Based on the information we have so far, several suspects were involved but fled the scene prior to our arrival," the police spokesperson stated.
A safety perimeter has been established whilst an investigation is carried out to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. Local media have reported that the wound was inflicted during a fight, though details as to who was involved and the motives remain unclear.
