The fourth matchday of the Champions playoffs saw a renewed battle for the title of Jupiler Pro League.
Playoff leaders RSC Anderlecht lost 2-1 against Genk on Saturday, which would have given Union Saint-Gilloise (USG) the chance to regain first place on Sunday against Club Brugge.
But following Brugge's historic qualification into the semi-finals of the Conference League, the Flemish side managed to secure a 1-2 win at Duden Park against USG– for the third year in a row during the Championship play-offs
As a result, Brugge (36 points) are two points behind league leaders Anderlecht (38 points) in second position. Union, after having now taken 0 points out of a possible 12, have dropped to third place with 35 points. Genk, with an impressive 10 points out of 12 in the playoffs, are in fourth spot with a total of 34 points.
Defending champions Antwerp celebrated their first victory by beating Cercle Brugge 0-1 and now have 29 points, narrowly taking fifth position from the latter.
