The Belgian Red Devils, along with their coaching staff, departed for Germany from Brussels on Wednesday morning, two days ahead of the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship.

The team will reside at the Schlosshotel Monrepos in Ludwigsburg, near Stuttgart. Training will take place at the nearby Sportzentrum Wasen in Freiberg am Neckar. The first training session – partially open to the press for 15 minutes – will take place on Wednesday evening, with a fully open session scheduled for Thursday morning.

The team will kick off their round of matches (Group E) in Frankfurt on 17 June, against Slovakia. They will then play Romania in Cologne on 22 June and Ukraine in Stuttgart on 26 June.

Players were given some respite in the preceding days, spending time with family and friends. The Belgium leg of their preparation concluded on Saturday night with a 3-0 victory against Luxembourg. This follows an earlier 2-0 win against Montenegro.

However, little can be inferred from these victories due to the perceived weakness of the opponents. Emphasis was placed on intense training sessions in Tubize.

Two weeks ago, coach Domenico Tedesco announced a 25-player squad. However, the coach lamented on Saturday night over the forced withdrawal of Thomas Meunier due to a muscle injury. The 32-year-old Trabzonspor defender experienced discomfort in his right thigh during the first quarter of the match against Luxembourg.

Medics on the pitch swiftly confirmed Meunier was unable to continue. On Sunday it emerged he would be provisionally sidelined, pending further medical examinations.
