Brussels' iconic music temple Ancienne Belgique (AB) is returning with its free park-based music festivals at the end of the summer. Expect the best Dutch-speaking artists of the moment and a whole range of activities.
From 26 to 30 August, AB will once again take over Brussels' Parc de Bruxelles in the city centre with its two free summer festivals: 'Boterhammen In Het Park' ('Sandwiches in the Park' in English) and 'Feeërieën'. An additional staged titled 'Bar Chaud' will also be set up next to the kiosk in the park.
"Since 1990, 'Boterhammen In Het Park' has been giving a stage to the best Flemish and Dutch-speaking artists of the moment in Brussels' Parc de Bruxelles," AB wrote in a statement. "This year too, visitors can enjoy some music over a delicious sandwich overlooking the kiosk."
Every afternoon, locals and tourists alike are invited to the park for free dance workshops, skate classes, jams, battles, live concerts and DJ sets. This years, music lovers will find Het Zesde Metaal, monokimono, MEAU, Willem Ardui, Elmer, Babs, Borokov Borokov, Mariposa, SEF, Deadbeat Larry and Jan De Wilde 80!
'Feeërieën' festival, which is celebrating its 20th edition this year, will feature music from all over the world, with artists from Japan, South Africa, Morocco, Syria, France, Libya, Kenya, Portugal and Belgium.
Finally, 'Bar Chaud' also returns after a "successful" first edition last year. Besides free dance workshops, skate classes, jams and battles, performances will be put on here by Maria Iskariot, SMR and Ucci Why, among others. "The hottest stage of the summer was wildly popular, which is why AB is bringing plenty of free activities to the park again this year."
