Brussels is getting ready for summer and adding new facilities to popular parks.

City of Brussels' Deputy Mayor Fabian Maingain (DéFI) unveiled six new toilets in Parc de Bruxelles on Friday. Previously, there were only two facilities on site, which has proven grossly inadequate since the green space became increasingly popular during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The unveiling took place under torrential rain. However, with good weather on the horizon, the park – and other outdoor areas – will undoubtedly see the return of the public for outdoor activities, exercise and social gatherings.

The existing two toilets could no longer handle the capacity needed for the influx of visitors. Since last Friday, visitors can now access two unisex toilets, two female toilets and two additional urinals.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Woodpecker, which runs establishments in Parc de Bruxelles and Bois de la Cambre. These sites are also due to see new facilities added shortly.

Local police have reminded visitors that failing to keep public areas like Parc de Bruxelles clean could result in a municipal administrative sanction.
