Aldi says it is conducting a trial run of its first customer loyalty card in Belgium this week.
Customers in 70 stores across West Flanders and the northern part of Hainaut will be the first to try out the digital loyalty card.
The card, an update to Aldi’s existing app, allows customers to earn points on purchases, which can then be exchanged for free products or discounts.
Almost all supermarkets have some form of customer loyalty scheme. This is a first for Aldi Nord, the branch covering Belgian stores.
According to Aldi, Belgium will serve as a testing ground: the results will be subsequently evaluated.
