Saturday will see windy conditions across Belgium.

Rain and occasional showers are expected to sweep from coastal areas through to the Ardennes, clearing the eastern borders by mid-afternoon.

Following this, periodic sunny intervals and little to no showers are predicted, the Royal Meteorological Institute forecasts.

Temperature highs will fluctuate between 17 degrees in the High Ardennes and 21 degrees in Flanders.

The wind is expected to intensify, progressing from moderate to generally rather strong. North-western regions and the highlands of the Ardennes may experience gusts of 60 to locally 70 km/h, while gales along the coast may range from strong to very strong, clocking between 70 to 80 km/h.

Saturday evening may still have a slight chance of showers in the north-west of the country. During the night, clear to partly cloudy skies are predicted.

However, in the second half of the night, high cloud banks will start to appear from the west of the country. The coastal region may encounter a few showers. The night is expected to cool off, with temperature lows of 6 degrees in the High Fagnes, 10 degrees in central parts, and 12 degrees along the coast, with moderate winds.

Sunday will begin with occasional spells of sunshine, though often veiled by high clouds. The weather will rapidly shift to very cloudy conditions with showers, particularly in the north-western part of the country.

Maximum temperatures are estimated between 16 and 18 degrees in the Ardennes, and between 18 and 20 degrees in other places, accompanied by moderate wind, and occasionally quite strong along the coast.

This unsettled weather will continue into Monday.

From Tuesday, temperatures are expected to rise back up, reaching up to 28 degrees, bringing a dry spell. However, towards the end of the day, showers may come in from France with the potential for thunderstorms.
