Train passengers can now see the composition of their train via the Belgian railway operator SNCB's app, to see where the first-class and bicycle carriages are located, and whether their train is equipped with air conditioning or power outlets, for example.
This information was already available on the journey planner on SNCB's website since mid-April but is now being extended to the mobile app.
"Even before the train arrives at the station, passengers know how many carriages it consists of and what facilities the train has," a press release stated. "It also shows the expected crowding on the train, a feature that was accelerated by the Covid-19 crisis and has been available since 2020."
The type of train is now also being visually represented: passengers will see whether they will be boarding a single or double-decker and whether they will be travelling in an older 'Desiro' train or a brand new M7 double-decker.
"This additional information comes at the request of passengers and can now be seen via both the app and the website," said SNCB.
