The Cactus Festival kicked off on Friday in Bruges, its tickets sold out for first time ever; organiser Patrick Keersebilck confirmed that the last tickets went on Wednesday evening.
The event is expected to attract around 30,000 attendees to the city, known as the 'Venice of the North,' over the weekend.
In preparation for potential showers, additional planks have been laid. “People know we are an open-air festival and prepare accordingly,” said Keersebilck. No major issues are anticipated, he added.
The festival opened its doors at 3 p.m. on Friday. The first concert, featuring Kids With Buns, began at 5:20 p.m., while the evening’s line-up included performances by Compact Disk Dummies, De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig, and Brihang, culminating in headliners Bazart.
Saturday’s activity will start with Bluai, escalating throughout the day with performances from ÃO, Whispering Sons, Het Zesde Metaal, Patti Smith, Warhaus and Brittany Howard.
War On Drugs will take the stage on Sunday to conclude the festival. The day's other performers include Cat Power, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, J. Bernardt, Anna Calvi, Admiral Freebee, Waxahatchee, and Demob Happy.
