Brussels' cultural sector can count on a new budget of €150,000 for projects of creation, mediation, research and development, Culture Alderman Delphine Houba announced on Thursday.
The aid will go to artists, technicians, and other professionals in the sector. It will be distributed among some twenty cultural venues in the City of Brussels, each with a budget of €7,500.
Round tables with professionals in the sector will be organised from June onwards to prepare the cultural revival and to stimulate synergies, Houba announced. An ambitious summer cultural programme will also be established in line with the National Security Council framework.

Houba also announced the launch of public commissions for works of art intended to enrich the city's collections and to embellish the new Administrative Centre, which is currently under construction.
Several measures have already been taken in support of Brussels' cultural sector, including the maintenance of subsidies allocated to cultural structures that fall directly under the responsibility of the City, and that of subsidies for events that were planned between mid-March and 31 August.
Finally, the city has offered financial support, on a case-by-case basis, for innovative and solidarity-based cultural projects from the Brussels cultural sector.
