From Saturday 20 July, single-ride metro tickets in Paris are increasing in price, ahead of the city welcoming the 2024 Olympic Games later this week on 26 July.
The cost of a single ticket now stands at €4, nearly doubling the previous price of €2.15. Parisian authorities say that this price hike will not significantly impact local residents as the rates for monthly and annual subscriptions remain the same. The French capital is expected to host approximately ten million visitors during the Olympics.
Visiting tourists have the option to purchase daily (€16) or weekly (€70) tickets instead of single-ride ones. These options allow unlimited travel within Paris and to and from Paris-Charles de Gaulle International Airport.
The inflated prices by the Parisian Transport Authority (RATP) will stay in place until 8 September.
