A fire occurred along the canal in Brussels near the Jules de Trooz square in a container in which a homeless person was sleeping, the Brussels fire brigade reported. No one was injured.
"Around 06:20, we received a report for a fire near the Monument au Travail, in Place Jules de Trooz," said Brussels fire brigade spokesman Walter Derieuw.
The person staying in the container had already managed to get to safety when the fire brigade arrived, but his belongings went up in flames, the spokesman said.
It is currently unclear what caused the fire.
