A technical glitch at a Belgian theme park caused panic among visitors on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 5.00 p.m. at the ‘Radja River’ attraction, a white water rafting ride at Walibi Amusement Park in Walloon Brabant province. A failure in the ride’s vessel synchronisation resulted in a traffic jam of boats.
One of the boats subsequently began taking on water, sparking fear among its occupants, who mistakenly believed it was about to sink. Some of them hopped onto other vessels while one slipped into the water.
Local police and fire services responded swiftly, and the ride was shut down temporarily.
No major injuries resulted from the incident, but two visitors reported back pains and a few others were left shaken by the ordeal.
