A "feminist sound walk" through the streets of Brussels will be open to the public from 12 September.

The City of Brussels' Parcours Street Art trail and Kimia Studio have joined forces to create a feminist walk through the Belgian capital. The Street Art trail – a tour of Brussels' many murals – will be accompanied by a woman-centred podcast created by Kimia studio.

A 4.2-kilometre-long walk and the accompanying 90-minute podcast episode will introduce participants to "urban art, feminism and public space". The aim is to place women at the centre of the city's narrative and shed a light on their role in the public domain.

Graffiti and street artists, architects and town planners, historians, poets and musicians will be highlighted through musical tracks, interviews, soundscapes, poetry and voice-overs.

Along the way, muralist Alba Fabre Sacristán will pay tribute to Belgian film-maker Chantal Akerman, while Fitore Alísdóttir Berisha's fresco 'Haunted' will illustrate the impact of femicide.

A mosaic created by artist Medianeras entitled 'Diversity: the union as more than the sum of its parts', marks 20 years since same-sex couples were granted the right to marry in Belgium.

The "plug and play" podcast is free of charge and accessible in French, Dutch and English on all streaming platforms or via a QR Code. No maps or GPS will be necessary on the tour, according to the project's creators.
