US authorities have put forward a reward of up to $2.5 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspected Belarusian cybercriminal.

The US State Department and Secret Service announced on Monday that they are jointly offering the reward for 38-year-old Volodymyr Kadariya.

Kadariya was indicted by the US Justice Department in June 2023, along with 38-year-old Belarusian-Ukranian Maksim Silnikau and Andrei Tarasov, 33, a Russian national, according to a State Department statement. Silnikau was extradited from Poland in July.

They face maximum penalties of 27 years in prison for wire fraud conspiracy, 10 years in prison for computer fraud conspiracy, and 20 years in prison on each of two counts of wire fraud.

Kadariya and Silnikau are alleged to have hacked the computers of millions of users between October 2013 and March 2022.

They allegedly infiltrated their systems using the Angler malware, thus granting cybercriminals remote control access.
