Several cocaine packages were discovered on northern French beaches over a two-day period, judicial sources told Agence France Presse (AFP) on Wednesday.
Walkers came across a parcel containing 26 kilogrammes of cocaine on Monday on the beach in Ambleteuse, Pas-de-Calais department. On Tuesday, two more packages, each containing 30 kilogrammes of cocaine, washed up on the beach in Audresselles, also in Pas-de-Calais.
Judicial sources suggest that the packages were not intended to wash up on the shore. “They may have fallen from a boat or been discarded to avoid inspection,” one source said.
This type of discovery is not new as packages of drugs have been found on beaches in previous years, another judicial source noted.
