Two dead after separate stabbings at Notting Hill carnival

Two individuals lost their lives in separate incidents at last weekend’s Notting Hill Carnival in London, according to British police.

The victims were a 32-year-old mother and a 41-year-old chef based in Dubai.

The victims had been in hospital for just under a week following the stabbings.

Cher Maximen was fatally stabbed in broad daylight last Sunday after trying to intervene in a fight and died yesterday Saturday, police stated.

Mussie Imnetu, a UK visitor who had previously worked for Gordon Ramsay and Alain Ducasse, passed away on Friday evening.

Imnetu was found unconscious outside a popular restaurant with a head injury on Monday night.

Two men, one aged 20 and the other 31, have been charged.

Event organisers, along with London Mayor Sadiq Khan, expressed their shock, denouncing the incidents as a “betrayal of the carnival’s values”.

Almost a million people descended upon the streets of Notting Hill over two days, celebrating Caribbean culture. The carnival is the largest of its kind in Europe.

In total, eight people were stabbed. A few hundred people were also arrested.
