Suspect arrested for Saturday's stabbing in Schaerbeek

A suspect has been arrested following a stabbing last Saturday in Schaerbeek near Brussels-North station, according to a report by Flemish public broadcaster VRT on Monday morning.

The attack took place at around 20:00 on Saturday on Rue d'Aerschot, known as Brussels' red light district. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but emergency services found the victim seriously injured.

The man was treated at the scene before being transferred to the hospital. While he was initially in a critical condition, his health since stabilised and his life is no longer at risk.

Insiders close to the investigation report that Brussels North police (in Schaerbeek, Evere and Saint-Josse-ten-Noode) arrested a suspect on the night of the incident.
