This year’s Brussels Mobility Week highlights the potential cost savings when choosing sustainable transportation. The event will begin on 16 September and conclude with Car-Free Sunday on 22 September.

Brussels Mobility is working in collaboration with consumer organisation Testaankoop to deliver beneficial information to the residents of Brussels. The objective is to equip residents with an understanding of the various mobility solutions in the capital, helping people make more informed decisions that can positively impact their finances.

“Adopting alternatives such as cycling or public transport reduces costs while enhancing the quality of life,” says Brussels Mobility Minister, Elke Van den Brandt (Green), expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming Car-Free Sunday. She believes this annual event transforms Brussels into an open space, affording everyone the chance to rediscover their street, neighbourhood, and city.

In terms of activities, the day will see the Brussels Capital Region being the largest car-free zone in Europe from 09.30 to 19:00. Among the numerous initiatives, the Mobility Village will be set up on Boulevard de Waterloo.

Those who require a car must promptly request a passage permit from the municipality. Brussels residents should do this at their place of residence, those coming from outside Brussels need to apply at their destination. Take note that after 13th September, some municipalities will no longer issue permits.
