No take-offs or landings were permitted between 06:30 and 07:30 at Brussels South Charleroi Airport on Saturday due to "urgent’ repair works."
The news was announced by Nathalie Pierard, the airport’s spokesperson, to ensure passenger safety.
No disruptions were anticipated or experienced as a result of the work.
Pierard informed Belga that "with the first landings expected around 7:40 am, there will be no impact on flights arriving in Charleroi."
Passengers with flights on Saturday morning are advised to arrive at the airport at their original scheduled time, the country's second-largest airport stated.
The airport has not ruled out potentially rerouting some flights to other airports, if delays pile up and too many planes are left circling overhead. "At the moment, it's not on the agenda, but it's not off the table either," the spokesperson clarified to the Belga News Agency.
