Molenbeek celebrates diversity, culture and cooperation

Molenbeek-Saint-Jean is hosting a festival celebrating diversity, culture, and collaboration from 12 to 22 September.

The Molenfest festival, which kicked off on Thursday, aims to preview 'Molenbeek for Brussels 2030' as the city campaigns to become the European Capital of Culture in 2030.

The event emphasises solidarity, showcasing Molenbeek’s diversity and generosity of spirit.

Various cultural and community organisations are offering events over the festival's 11 days.

Thursday's programme includes a choreographed parade along the canal, an inflatable museum at Béco Park, and the music and dance production 'Black Hole' by DJ Sara Dziri at K1, opposite the KANAL building.

Highlights include the 'Sweet Molenbeek' festival at the communal square on Saturday, 14 September, a dance and circus performance on Sunday, 15 September, and festive activities and parades on the final Sunday of the event.

The festival is organised by Molenbeek for Brussels 2030, the Maison des Cultures et de la Cohésion Sociale, and KANAL-Centre Pompidou museum.
