Mother gives birth to baby at Brussels Metro station

A woman gave birth last Sunday at the Brussels Metro station of Beekkant, in Molenbeek, as announced by Brussels STIB on social media.

The Brussels public transport company described it as a unique event on their metro network. During a trip, a brave mother delivered her baby at the Beekkant station, assisted by her family, emergency services, and staff.

STIB congratulated the parents and the colleagues who came to their aid. They also announced a special gift for the unusual birth: a lifetime free pass for their new little STIB star.

This memorable occasion is one the STIB says they "will never forget".

Translation: A happy event has taken place on our network! Last Sunday, STIB celebrated the birth of its first 'metro baby'! During a journey, a brave mother gave birth at Beekkant station, surrounded by her family, the emergency services and our colleagues. It's a moment we'll never forget, and as a birth gift, the STIB's new little star will receive a free season ticket for life. Congratulations to the parents and a big well done to our colleagues present!
