Two young women arrested with 23 kilos of drugs

The Federal Highway Police seized 23 kilogrammes of synthetic drugs in a van with French plates last week, the West Flanders Public Prosecutor’s Office reported on Monday.

On Tuesday evening, police noticed the van on the E17 motorway heading towards France. Officers directed the vehicle to a motorway car park in Marke, near Kortrijk, West Flanders.

On inspecting the van, the officers detected irregularities in the flooring, leading them to find a hidden compartment containing over 23 kgs of narcotics, the prosecutor’s office stated.

The synthetic drugs were seized and are currently being examined in a forensic laboratory. The driver and her passenger, both 19-year-old French nationals, were arrested.

The suspects will be questioned and are scheduled to appear before the Kortrijk Council Chamber on Friday. They have been charged with importing and exporting narcotics.
