Leonard Tunnel to be closed this weekend

Leonard Tunnel to be closed this weekend

The Leonard Tunnel will be closed on 28 to 30 September for the replacement of high-voltage cables,  the Flemish mobility agency, Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer, announced on Monday.

To make sure the work is carried out safely, the electricity will be cut. As a result, there will be no lighting at the junction, in the surrounding areas, and within the tunnel itself.

The closure will begin at 9:30 p.m. on Friday and continue until 5:30 a.m. on Monday.

Traffic from Waterloo heading toward Zaventem will be rerouted via the usual diversion through the E411 and Exit no. 3.

Traffic from the inner ring (Zaventem to Waterloo) will be diverted above ground through the Leonard Junction, as has been the case since early July.

Additionally, the outer ring tunnel will again be closed from 8:30 p.m. on Monday evening to 5:30 a.m. the following day.
