People without tickets for Pope Francis’ mass at King Baudouin Stadium will have another chance at 10:00 on Wednesday, when hundreds of additional tickets will be released, the Belgian Bishops' Conference announced on Tuesday in a press statement.
The initial allocation of 35,000 seats has been fully booked for some time. Due to the high demand, a few thousand additional seats have been created, according to the Bishops' Conference. A limited number of these will be made available to the public on Wednesday morning. Entry is free, but registration is compulsory.
Attendees are advised to arrive well in advance at King Baudouin Stadium, which will open at 06:00 on Sunday. Everyone must be in their allocated seats by 08:30. For security reasons, all individuals, whether in groups or alone, must enter the stadium together with the person who registered them.
Public transport is strongly recommended as close-proximity parking is limited. The Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company will double its service to the stadium from 05:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.
Pope Francis' motorcade will drive past the public from 09:00 along a route between Brussels Expo and King Baudouin Stadium (Miramar- and Keizerin Joséphine-Charlottelaan and a section of Houba de Strooperlaan). Pre-registration is not required, but those wishing to see the Pope should arrive by 08:40 at the latest.
A security perimeter will be established around the stadium and the Heizel Plateau. Sharp objects, backpacks, large bags, and flags are prohibited in areas visited by the pontiff. The use of drones is also banned.
