The municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean announced on Wednesday that new election summons would be sent out following a coding error by the private company tasked with this duty.
The error affects up to 15,000 residents, according to Mayor Catherine Moureaux (PS), who spoke to Belga.
Several voters contacted the municipality after receiving a summons directing them to a polling station far from their home. Upon investigation, these convocations were found to be incorrect.
The municipality emphasised it is not responsible for this "unfortunate error". The private firm in charge admitted to a mistake in coding several electoral sections.
The firm has assured that rectifications will be made as quickly as possible. Affected voters will receive new summonses shortly.
