Service vouchers in Flanders are set to cost one more euro per voucher under plans of the new Flemish Government.
The price increase is expected to directly result in higher wages for domestic workers, according to the new Flemish Labour Minister Zuhal Demir (N-VA), who made the announcement on Monday.
In the northern region of Belgium, vouchers will now cost €10 each, and the tax deductibility on service vouchers will be removed. The funds saved from this change will be reallocated within the budget, Demir added.
Currently, in Wallonia and Brussels, the base price of a service voucher is already €10. In Flanders, the price is €9 with a tax deduction of €1.8 for the first 198 service vouchers (€1 in Wallonia and €1.50 in Brussels).
It was already known that the new N-VA/Vooruit/CD&V government intended to alter the price of service vouchers. However, the coalition agreement had been vague about the specific changes.
Minister Demir confirmed on the VRT programme Villa Politica that the price of service vouchers would increase by €1. The details of this increase are still subject to discussions with the sectoral federation Federgon.
