Recycling centres in Ghent and Destelbergen reopened on Thursday, except in Drongen where a recent incident has kept it closed due to a staff shortage, according to waste management company IVAGO.

Last weekend, an attendant at a centre in Drongen was physically assaulted and sustained injuries as a result. Recycling centres were closed on Wednesday to address the situation.

Discussions at IVAGO are ongoing to determine whether additional measures are necessary. Mayor Mathias De Clercq stated on Wednesday that police will increase patrols near recycling centres.
