A new cyberattack has targeted the websites of several Belgian municipalities on Wednesday morning for the third consecutive day, the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB) confirmed.

The pro-Russian hacker group "NoName057" claimed responsibility for the latest attack. They published a list of the affected Belgian towns on their Telegram account at around 08:40.

The affected municipalities include Enghien, Comines-Warneton, Mouscron, Flobecq, Amblève, Colfontaine, and Malmedy.

The attack was a DDoS attack, which overwhelms servers with massive amounts of traffic, rendering them unusable.

The CCB emphasised that these attacks are not dangerous. Similar attacks were carried out on Monday and Tuesday against other city, port, and public authority websites in Belgium.

These attacks were also claimed by the same hacker group.
