Bart De Wever is expected to meet the Belgian King Philippe at Royal Palace on Thursday.
It is the second audience for De Wever since he resumed his role on 2 September.
“His Majesty the King will hold an audience with Bart De Wever at the Royal Palace of Brussels this Thursday, 17 October at 11:15 am,” the palace announced in a statement on Wednesday.
According to De Wever, negotiations have progressed at a slow pace, akin to a local train rather than a high-speed one.
The municipal and provincial elections held on Sunday also contributed to the delay.
Negotiators from N-VA, MR, Les Engagés, Vooruit, and CD&V are meet on Wednesday at 12:30 pm. This first meeting since the elections will primarily focus on planning their work for the upcoming weeks.
