A spontaneous strike broke out at the AB InBev brewery in Hoegaarden on Monday afternoon, the ACV trade union confirmed on Tuesday.
The strike affects only one department, limiting its overall impact. Union representative Sander Mouton stated the strike followed a punishment given to an employee "for someone else’s mistake."
"There has been discontent among the staff towards the management for some time," Mouton added.
The logistics department, employing around 20 people, was hit by the strike on Monday afternoon. Further actions are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
No meetings with management have been planned yet. AB InBev assures that client deliveries are unaffected and the production impact remains minimal.
