Brussels residents will have free access to Belgian Beer World from 12 to 25 November, announced the City of Brussels on Friday.
Situated in the heart of the capital, in the former Brussels Stock Exchange building, Belgian Beer World provides an immersive experience which delves into the history of Belgian beer.
The temporary free access aims to encourage residents to (re)discover the local heritage. Belgian beer culture is recognised as UNESCO intangible heritage.
The admission also includes entry to the recently renovated 'Bruxella 1238' museum. This archaeological site houses the remnants of a 13th-century Franciscan convent. Artefacts and graves unearthed during excavations from 1988 to 2022 are displayed in a new exhibition.
The convent endured European religious wars and the 1695 bombardment of Brussels by Louis XIV's troops. Declared national property by the late 18th century, it was later dismantled to construct the Stock Exchange building after relocating from the Butter Market. The remnants have been preserved.
Belgian Beer World is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, except on Mondays.
Free admission is granted once per person during the promotion period upon presenting an ID proving residency in the Brussels Region.
