A man was stabbed in a suspected a homophobic attack in Ostend on Friday night, according to the West Flanders Public Prosecutor's office.
The events took place near meeting centre De Ballon in the Opex neighbourhood. The victim was walking his dog when he was harassed by two people in the street.
After making comments, the man's dog bit one of them, causing the other to pull out a knife and stab the man in retaliation. The victim suffered minor injuries.
"The victim suffered minor cuts and was taken to hospital, but has since returned home. The prosecutor's office is conducting further investigations into the facts, and whether it constituted a homophobic attack. There are two suspects who are being actively pursued," the police said.
