Woman killed in lorry collision on Rue du Trône in Brussels

A 61-year-old woman was killed in a collision on Rue du Trône in the Brussels municipality of Ixelles on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Rue du Trône and Rue d'Idalie. It involved a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian, according to BX1.

Emergency services were called to a report of a person trapped under a lorry. The victim is believed to have died on the spot. The driver of the lorry was given a breathalyser test, which proved negative, confirmed the City of Brussels/Ixelles police zone.

Due to the intervention of the emergency services, police has also advised people to avoid the area, as Rue du Trône has been closed in both directions.

A police spokesperson confirmed to The Brussels Times that all official communications on the incident will go through the Public Prosecutor's Office. No more official information on the incident is available.

"In the context of an intervention by the emergency services, we ask you to avoid the following sector: rue du Trône (between place de Londres and Rue d'Idalie)," the City of Brussels/Ixelles police zone said on social media.
