Local and federal traffic police are conducting a new speed camera marathon from 06:00 today, which will last for 24 hours across Belgian roads.

The primary aim of the initiative is to encourage drivers to adhere to speed limits and reduce excessive speeding.

Excessive speed remains one of the leading causes of traffic accidents.

During the last speed camera marathon in April, around 6% of checked drivers were speeding, resulting in 145 driving licences being revoked.

In the November 2023 edition, 6.19% of the drivers checked exceeded the speed limit, setting an unfortunate record at the time.
