The Simonis metro station in the Brussels municipality of Koekelberg was evacuated on Wednesday morning following a bomb threat, according to federal police.

Shortly after 11:30, the police received a report of a bomb threat at the station.

Simonis station was evacuated, and federal and local police conducted a sweep with a sniffer dog.

The federal police have since confirmed that the Simonis metro station is reopen, and the "sweep conducted by federal police dogs came back negative".

The investigation is ongoing, and no further comments will be provided in the interest of the inquiry.

Metro line 6 service between Yser and Simonis has been restored. However, an unrelated technical problem continues to disrupt metro lines 2 and 6 between Belgica and Delacroix stations, said the STIB.
