UberX will be available throughout Wallonia from 1 December. The ride-hailing platform will now be operating in every Belgian region.

UberTaxi has been available in Mons, Liège, Namur and Charleroi since February. New regulations in the Walloon Region will come into force from 1 December, allowing the platform to offer its everyday taxi service known as UberX. The service is already available in Brussels and Flanders.

Uber's Belgium Director Laurent Slits says the launch of UberTaxi was well-received by both drivers and users in major Walloon cities. He expects the same enthusiasm for UberX.

"UberX's arrival in Wallonia will allow drivers to access a vast network of passengers, increase their earning opportunities, and enjoy the flexibility to choose if, when and where they wish to work," Uber stated.

Consumers will know the price of their journey in advance, with costs expected to decrease due to the reform. The app will be accessible to all drivers with either a street or station taxi licence.
