Missing Belgian passengers of sunken boat in Egypt found alive

Two Belgian nationals, who went missing after a tourist boat sank off the coast of Egypt on Monday, have been found alive, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Tuesday, following earlier reports from local authorities.

A total of four survivors were rescued and four bodies were found on Tuesday, Red Sea Governor Amr Hanafi reported. Among the survivors are two Belgians, a Swiss people and an Egyptian person. The four victims have not yet been identified.

So far, 32 people have been rescued. A total of eight passengers are still missing, and four bodies have been recovered.

The Sea Story, a tourist boat with 44 people on board, including 31 tourists, sank on Monday morning after being hit by a large wave near Marsa Alam.

The boat was en route to a diving excursion and was expected to dock in Hurghada, 200 kilometres away, on Friday.
