The prestigious French ranking of the world's top 1,000 restaurants – La Liste – features 28 Belgian establishments this year. The award-winning Boury, Hof van Cleve and The Jane ranked highest.

La Liste, considered the global benchmark for gastronomy, has revealed its 2025 ranking of the world's best restaurants. The ranking compiles reviews from publications, guidebooks and online. Belgium, which ranks third globally for the number of Michelin-starred restaurants per person, is also on the list. A total of 28 establishments located in Belgium are among those receiving top scores.

The first Belgian restaurant featured in the list is Boury, run by chef Tim Boury in Roeselare (West Flanders), which was awarded a score of 96.5/100. It is one of just two establishments in Belgium with three Michelin stars.

It was followed by Hof van Cleve in Kruisem (East Flanders), which was previously headed by one of Belgium's most famous chefs, Peter Goossens, and is now run by Floris Van der Veken. Hof van Cleve is Belgium's second-best restaurant in La Liste, with a score of 96.5/100.

In third place was The Jane in Antwerp with a score of 96/100. The restaurant run by chef Nick Bril – who was crowned Gault&Millau's Chef of the Year in 2022 – was the only Belgian establishment to be included in 'World's 50 Best Restaurants', a British list of the 50 best restaurants in the world.

Brussels-based winners

There are also six Brussels-based restaurants included in the list. Chalet de la Forêt in the Brussels municipality of Uccle was the highest-ranking establishment in the region, with a score of 94/100. La Villa Lorraine by Yves Mattagne, located at the edge of Bois de la Cambre, received a score of 93/100.

Comme Chez Soi in the city centre, a staple on the Brussels culinary scene, also featured in the ranking with a score of 89.5/100. La Paix, run by chef David Martin in Anderlecht, received a score of 88.5. Bozar – the restaurant belonging to the eponymous Centre for Fine Arts – scored 87.5/100 points. This year, it ranked among the top restaurants in the UK's 'World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024' list.
