Temperatures are expected to drop on Thursday evening in Belgium. The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) has issued a code yellow weather warning for ice, snow and fog across the country.
The ex-storm depression Conall is moving from northern Germany to Poland, bringing unstable air from the North Sea into Belgium. On Thursday night, a high-pressure core will settle over Belgium, and temperatures will drop to below freezing, bringing a chance of light frost.
"Locally, icy patches may cause slipperiness, especially in the east," the RMI noted. It has issued a code yellow warning for ice on the roads from 23:00 on Thursday. It will remain in place until 10:00 on Friday. The warning applies to all of Belgium, including Brussels.
Fog may also develop later in the evening, for which another code yellow has been issued, from 22:00 on Thursday until 10:00 on Friday. "Between early evening on Thursday and Friday morning, (freezing) fog may develop, reducing visibility to less than 200 metres."
