This weekend, railway operator Infrabel will be carrying out maintenance work on the line between Leuven and Borgworm, resulting in no trains running between Leuven, Landen, and Borgworm on Saturday and Sunday.
The maintenance work will take place around the clock between Drogenhof in Boutersem to beyond Vertrijk station. Infrabel aims to renew the rails between Leuven and Vertrijk using a mobile workforce that will move from Leuven towards Tienen, deploying machinery and rail cranes.
Replacement buses will service the stations of Leuven, Vertrijk, Tienen, Ezemaal, Neerwinden, Landen, and Borgworm. Train services will also be adjusted, with IC trains between Blankenberge, Brussels, and Genk being rerouted and not stopping at Tienen, Landen, Sint-Truiden, and Alken.
Similarly, IC trains between Ostend, Brussels, and Eupen will be rerouted and will not stop at Tienen, Landen, and Borgworm. Infrabel spokesperson Frédéric Petit urges travellers to check the SNBC online journey planner. “All these works are necessary to ensure the safety, quality, and continuity of train services,” Petit stated.
Additionally, there will be no trains running between Brussels and Nivelles on Saturday and Sunday. Replacement buses will service the stations of Brussels-South, Braine-l’Alleud, Nivelles, Forest-East, Uccle-Stalle, Uccle-Calevoet, Moensberg, Linkebeek, Sint-Genesius-Rode, Waterloo, and Lillois.
The schedule will be adjusted so that S19 trains between Leuven, Brussels-Schuman, and Nivelles will only run between Leuven, Brussels Airport-Zaventem, and Brussels-Luxembourg.
In the weekend of 14 and 15 December, Infrabel will continue work on the entire track between Leuven and Vertrijk.
