Hidden Belgium: Place Louis Morichar

Several striking Art Nouveau houses overlook Place Louis Morichar in the Brussels commune of Saint-Gilles. The house at No. 14 is decorated with sgraffiti panels symbolising the art of music and paintings.

The house at No. 41 is even more splendid, with a gilded rising sun that catches the sun in the early morning. It was designed in 1899 by Ernest Blérot.

The house next door at No. 42 is equally impressive, but the gilt lettering has now faded until it is almost illegible.
