RSC Anderlecht has condemned the racist abuse directed at one of its players during the Europa League match against Slavia Prague on Thursday night.

Anderlecht defeated Slavia Prague 2-1 in the Czech Republic during the sixth round of the competition, securing at least a place in the playoffs.

In a statement published overnight, Anderlecht revealed that their defender, Mathias Zanka Jørgensen, was subjected to racist treatment by a Slavia Prague player. The incident was immediately reported to the referee and included in the UEFA Match Delegate’s report.

According to La DH, which interviewed Anderlecht coach David Hubert, the abuse was allegedly perpetrated by forward Tomas Chory. Chory briefly played in the Belgian league with Zulte Waregem during the 2020-2021 season, appearing in 16 matches and scoring four goals with one assist.

Slavia Prague players and supporters have been involved in several discriminatory incidents in recent years. In 2019, Romelu Lukaku reported racist chants from the stands when he played for Inter Milan in Prague.
