The renovation of the railway infrastructure in Zaventem will temporarily reduce the number of trains available to and from Brussels Airport at the start of 2025, announced the SNCB and Infrabel on Tuesday.
About 600 metres of track bed and 1,200 metres of rails will be renewed from late January to early March. The work will sometimes take place at night, on weekends, and continuously for a longer period in February, causing traffic disruptions.
During the railway work, Brussels Airport-Zaventem station will only be accessible from the north side of the tunnel. The number of trains to and from the station will be reduced on the weekend of 25/26 January, from 1 to 21 February, and on the weekend of 1/2 March.
These works will also impact travellers from other regions. There will be no direct trains to and from Namur temporarily, but connections at Brussels-North station will be provided.
The same will apply to those travelling to and from Hasselt, Leuven, and Liège. Direct trains will still run to and from Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent, and the Brussels European Quarter, but with reduced frequency.
However, more trains will run to and from Zaventem (Village) station. SNCB passengers with valid train tickets can use connections via bus lines R26 and 82 from there. SNCB’s online journey planner already indicates the adjusted train service for February and shows real-time schedules for De Lijn buses.
